How to Stop Procrastinating

If you're like me, or just a normal human being, you probably find yourself putting off important tasks over and over.

What is procrastination? It's the habit of putting off something that requires attention, usually to focus on something we find more enjoyable.
According to psychologist Professor Clarry Lay procrastination occurs when there’s “a temporal gap between intended behavior and enacted behavior.”

But how to stop procrastinating?

1. Prioritize!
Make a to-do list with the most important things at the top and keep it short and simple so it doesn't look overwhelming.

2.Stop multitasking.
When you start a task, finish it before jumping to another one. Productivity is reduced by 40% when you're multitasking.

3.Be postitive!
I know I talk a lot about being positive but believe me, it is the key to success. Change your mood, be more optimistic, you'll finish easier and faster whatever it is you started if you are in a good mood.

4.Limit Social Media time.
This is something I need help with, I love checking Facebook, Instagram and Twitter all the time, it is just fun, which makes it easier to lose hours and hours on social media. Give yourself time to check them all, 1 hour a day should be good, but when that time is over, move on!

5.Have time for yourself.
Save an hour to focus on yourself, this will help revitalize your mind and boost your creativity, and your day won't seem so overwhelming to you.

6.Get an app to help you manage your time and tasks.
We all have a smartphone, why not use it to make our lives easier? Here are some apps I recommend:
  • Remember the milk. This app is compatible with your smartphone, computer, gmail, outlook...
  • Evernote. It will help you capture your thoughts and ideas, notes and everything in different ways.
  • Wunderlist. A different to-do list app, completely free.
  • Focus booster. This app is designed to enhance your focus and remove any anxiety you might have with time.
  • Toggl. Track how much time you spend on projects.

Comment below what you think of these tips and share your own tips with me.
